Sparkles and Sweets in Downtown Staunton – Friday, November 6

We’re getting ready for one of our favorite annual events — Sparkles & Sweets. It’s coming up this Friday, November 6, from 6 to 9PM. Nearly all of downtown Staunton’s shops, galleries and restaurants are participating. It’s an opportunity for you to enjoy free sparkling beverages and delicious treats at all the stores, take advantage of food and drink specials at the restaurants, and meet up with your friends and family to see everything that downtown has to offer. A lot of folks use this as a kick-off to their holiday shopping — we’ve got our Christmas and Hanukkah wrapping paper ready to go, so bring it on! Stop by Pufferbellies Toys and Books in Downtown Staunton, VA on Friday, September 4 to try out one of our hottest, new games – Patchwork! Patchwork is a colorful adventure for 2-5 players, ages 5 to 100+ from Knightweaver Games. Players work to arrange colored cards to make sets of 4,5, or 6 matching cards. Here’s the catch, your friends are also playing with your cards! Every card is double sided and you can make a move with your cards or your neighbors’ cards and so can they. With logic, sequencing and planning, this simple, tactical game can be challenging and complex for every age. Join us from 6-8 pm for a quick tutorial, lots of playing time, snacks and prizes! PatchWork and its companion game, PatchWord, will be 10% off during Game Night, too.

Flying Slingshot Monkeys!

Today at Pufferbellies, Sarah K decided to play a mean trick on Erin S (video to follow later this week). There is something to learn from this: never, ever play a trick on your manager and then turn your back.

This afternoon, a Fed Ex shipment arrived carrying the Flying Slingshot Monkey. This fun, exciting, shrieking monkey was the perfect way for Erin S to get paybacks! The monkey is cute and adorable, and with bungee arms and a cackling call, it will delight children and adults.  At just $9.99 it is tons of FUN!
